Desire Lines an Exploration.

DESIRE LINES:

A path that marks the human impact on landscape, that bears no correlation to the provided concrete pathways, a path that is chosen by people walking in their environment.

Despite the clearly accessible concrete paths provided by the council,Desire Paths/lines have been created.

There are hundreds of these paths in and around Plymouth (the city I am currently living in.) I am slowly collecting photographic evidence of this phenomenon. The story of the human desire fascinates me, these paths are a semi permanent trace of our existence, our desires, our impact.  My intention is to expand on this initial fascination, for the moment a visual diary, eventually becoming an independent artistic statement.

Great day in the workshop ready for the final push now! 

Playing with Ink!

Spent the afternoon working on sketchbooks and rekindling my joy of ink work, feels like a lifetime since I took up a brush!! 

There's pushing and then there's just plain stupid!!!

Ok so easy, had idea and designs drawn for sculptures ages ago! Started making then realised just what a challenge this was going to be!! I'm still going but wow, underestimation of skill and time required!!!!

I am really obsessed with the by products of my work! These trace elements hold me captivated, like a memory distant and not completely in focus but there all the same!

Playing with the camera on a beautiful evening. Finishing the sculpture in my garden over the weekend! Second one started in Flameworks yesterday!

All systems go!!

Now that the dreaded dissertation has been submitted its back to the grindstone. Sculptures taking shape nicely and I'm now usually covered in concrete or metal grime! Happy days
