Workshop Update

Another great week in the workshop, finally my sculptures are becoming a reality and are off the page into the three dimensional world! What a relief with only 1 day left!! Pictures to follow shortly.

Plymouth Museum and Art Gallery

Here are some images of my latest work displayed in the gallery. The piece was created to provoke the significance of limestone in the structuring of the city of plymouth. Plymouth Limestone has 'literally' shaped some of the distinct features of the city. It has been used to create protective, functional and architectural structures. With old buildings falling or being knocked down, its crucial that the foundations of the city are not forgotten. The concept of this piece was to encapsulate and celebrate the history of the creation of the city. The limestone set within the ring (like a precious stone) signifies its historical importance and cultural importance to the city.

Karst

I have recently been given the exciting opportunity of working with KARST gallery in Plymouth as a volunteer. They are a new non profit, artist led gallery and exhibition space that will be opening in June 2012. The aim is to become a supportive and connected network within the contemporary visual arts, the gallery space is a disused industrial building that will provide a large exhibition venue for local, national and international artists. I am genuinely excited about being involved in this project and look forward to the positive impact I believe it is going to have on the Plymouth Art Community.
